Founders and investors

Investors see you before the introduction, not after it.

A founder records thirty seconds saying what they are building and what they need. An investor states the cheques they write and the stages they back. Neither side gets an introduction until both have said yes. This page has a part for each of you — the first half is for founders raising, the second is for investors.

If you're raising

Record what you're building and what you need.

For founders. Your profile is a thirty-second video instead of a written page, and two short lines: what you're building, and what you're looking for. An investor watches that before deciding whether to talk — which is the opposite order to asking someone for an introduction first.

01

Say it in thirty seconds

Your profile video is you talking, not a written summary. What the company does, in your own words and your own voice.

02

Add the two lines

What you're building, and what you're looking for. They sit under your video and they're what an investor reads first.

03

Pitch a named investor

Record a thirty-second pitch straight to one investor on FaceMeet. The app prompts you through the beats: company, stage, revenue so far, market size, who's on the team, and why them.

04

They watch, then decide

The investor sees your pitch alongside your profile video. If they're interested back, the chat opens and you can talk. If not, nothing happens.

Sending a pitch to an investor costs 3 Sparks. Only accounts registered as investors can receive one. If an investor declines, you can't send them another Spark for thirty days — which is deliberate, and is the reason investors are willing to be reachable at all.

If you invest

State your thesis. Watch first. Agree before anyone gets introduced.

For investors. You record the same thirty-second video everyone else does — except when an investor speaks, FaceMeet reads the specifics out of what was said and keeps them as your thesis.

01

Your thesis, from your own words

Cheque size, stages, sectors, geographies, what makes you say yes, and what you bring besides money. Taken only from what you actually said — anything you didn't mention stays blank rather than being guessed at.

02

Or write it to us instead

If you'd rather send your thesis in writing than record it, email support@facemeet.app. What you write takes precedence over anything read from the video.

03

You see the founder before the meeting

Every founder arrives as a video, with what they're building and what they're looking for written underneath. Thirty seconds is usually enough to know whether an hour is worth it.

04

Nothing is introduced over your head

When FaceMeet thinks a founder is worth your time, you're asked first, and you can say no. Say no to a founder's Spark and they cannot approach you again for thirty days.

Both sides

How an introduction actually happens.

Every route to a conversation needs a yes from each person. There is no route that only needs one.

Sparks

Both, or neither

A Spark says you'd like to talk. The chat only opens when the other person Sparks you back.

Pitch

A pitch to one investor

Thirty seconds recorded for them specifically. They watch it, then choose.

Pitch Nights

Pitch live, in turn

A scheduled room. Founders join the queue, the host calls each one up, and either side can register interest afterwards.

Introductions

Asked, not assumed

Before you're put in front of anyone, you get shown their video and asked. Decline and they're never told.

Plainly

What this is not.

It is not a guarantee of a meeting. Recording a video and sending a pitch does not oblige any investor to watch it, reply to it, or take a call. Investors decline, and declining is a normal outcome that the product is built to allow.

It is not a fundraising service. FaceMeet does not raise money for you, introduce you to a list of funds on your behalf, advise you on terms, or take any part of what you raise. It is a network where the two of you can see each other first.

It is not a place your materials get circulated. Your pitch goes to the investor you recorded it for. Nobody is sent your video because someone else forwarded it.

It does not replace your own work. Warm introductions, your existing relationships, and your own outreach all still matter. What this changes is the first thirty seconds — an investor can see and hear you before deciding, instead of judging a request from a stranger.

Questions

The details.

How long is the video?

Thirty seconds, recorded in the app. A pitch you send to a specific investor is also thirty seconds.

What does an investor actually see about me?

Your video, your name and role, what you're building, your stage, your track record, what you're looking for, and where you are. Everything there comes from your profile or from what you said on camera.

Where does my thesis come from if I'm an investor?

From your profile video. FaceMeet reads out the cheque range, stages, sectors and geographies you mentioned, plus a line on what makes you say yes and what you offer beyond capital. Anything you didn't say is left empty. You can also send it to support@facemeet.app in writing, and the written version wins.

Can a founder message me without my agreement?

No. A founder can Spark you or send a pitch, which you watch and answer. The chat only opens if you Spark them back.

What happens if I decline?

Nothing is sent, and that person cannot Spark you again for thirty days.

What does it cost a founder?

Sending a pitch to an investor costs 3 Sparks. Joining the queue at a Pitch Night costs 3 Sparks. Hosting a Pitch Night costs 3 Sparks. See Sparks.

Does FaceMeet take a fee on a raise?

No. FaceMeet is not part of your fundraise and takes nothing from it.

Before the intro

Thirty seconds, recorded once.

A founder says what they are building and what they need. An investor states their thesis. Both sides see a person before either spends an hour finding out.

Recording a 30-second introduction

Who is here

Everyone here introduced themselves on camera.

No headshot and a headline. Thirty seconds of a person saying who they are and what they need right now.

Record thirty seconds. Let people decide with their eyes open.
